DVT for accurate diagnoses
Digital volume tomography (DVT) is a detailed diagnostic technique that uses very few x-rays. One of the latest developments in imaging diagnostics has given us the ability to display the smallest bone structures in the skull in 3D using a digital high-tech volume tomography (DVT). This is very advantageous when it comes to examining the jaw, teeth, sinuses and temporal bones.
Like computer tomography, an x-ray tube rotates around you during a DVT. Smaller and, more importantly, higher-resolution measuring systems are used here as the DVT is specially designed for examining the head. This means that the whole body does not need to go into the “X-ray tube”. The levels of radiation you are exposed to are also reduced compared to a standard CT. This is very important when examining children.
The latest DVT equipment from Dentsply can examine a large area. That is why they are ideal for examining all sections of patients’ jaws and teeth. This high-tech DVT equipment produces very detailed images.
